Sahra Hersi is an artist and spatial designer whose work sits at the intersection of materiality, domesticity and public space. Her practice is grounded in a deep interest in how places are made, altered and cared for, with a focus on long-lasting materials such as wood, clay, stone and ceramic.

Sahra’s work draws from architecture, craft and everyday urban life. She creates installations, objects and spatial interventions that reflect on belonging, homemaking and the ways people move through cities. Her approach is artist led and research driven, shaped by close observation.

Her projects range from sculptural furniture and tile based pieces to large scale public commissions and material experiments. She often works with oak, clay, terrazzo and printed matter, exploring how these materials hold memory and offer a sense of grounding.

Sahra studied at Newham College, London Metropolitan University and the Royal College of Art. She teaches on the BA Design programme at Goldsmiths, University of London, and maintains an active studio practice in east London.

Sahra works with local authority clients, cultural institutions and third sector organisations across the UK and beyond. Her work has been commissioned by institutions including the Design Museum’s Future Observatory, Arts Catalyst, UP Projects, V&A East and the Women’s Museum.
